I went to The Call this past weekend and man was it great! Over 100,000 people doing nothing but praising our Lord! But, that's not what this post is about. I wanna talk honestly and openly about something that alot of people don't like to talk about. Your local church and money. Oh no! He said the "M" word! Our local churches have got to get out and reach the local community about Jesus instead of waiting for people to come to us. My friends this takes money. If your saying "I'm not giving my money to the church, I don't know what they're going to do with it". Change churches. If you can't trust the leaders of your church with money, you'd better not trust them with your soul. God doesn't need our money, but his servants need it to spread his word. Programs cost money and those programs help bring people to Jesus. Pastors need to be paid, they have families to support just like everyone else and if your pastors aren't getting paid they should be, light bills need to be paid, and the list goes on and on. As a congregation it is our responsibility to give financially to the church. Whatever we make on our jobs is by the Grace of God and we have got to do our part by giving our 10 percent. If you can give more than 10 percent, then do. If you can't give 10 percent then give what you can. As a community, we have got to support our local churches. That is the only way that they are going to grow and truly spread the word of Jesus. We've got to quit taking a "let someone else deal with it" attitude and do our part. If your giving financially to your church God bless you! If you're not, please start. |

Hey bro, awesome post here! I just want to add one thing that has been proven to me personally as well as MANY others I know personally.
Tithing is important. God wants our best and wants what is most important to us when we offer it to him. God does not want our left overs after everything else is done. God 1st, everything else last. Keep that in mind while I make mention of what changed my own attitude...
Used to I would count my works as tithe. What I did for God was valuable, many times more valuable than the money I would give if I were giving God my 1st 10%. Even so, I never saw any significant changes or growth in my life. I began to understand just what it takes to make ministry happen. I was convicted and started to tithe with real money, not time. My method was that I would pay all my bills and tithe what I could. My ends never seemed to meet. Nothing significant changed in my life. Some time later I began something new. I started looking at my income, moving the decimal two places to the left and THAT is what I gave even before I looked at the bills that were due. Friends, since that very day, I have never been late on a bill and the ends always meet. Furthermore, I have found a lot of excess which I have been able to bless others with as they had needs. I have afforded some nice travels and even been invited on an all expenses paid cruise to the bahamas!
I am not trying to say that by tithing you will have the same things happen but I will say that if you do not tithe faithfully you will always have the same excuses to hang onto that you have now.
Occasionally I have a financial crisis come up. When they do satan plants in my head that I cannot afford to tithe. When I hear that, I remind him that under the circumstances I can't afford not to!
People, like Russ said, God does not need your money. God wants your heart and for you to support building his kingdom. YOUR TITHE BELONGS WHERE YOU WORSHIP!!! If you are home bound and have no church you need to tithe into a local church that is on the move or to the church on television, radio, or Internet. If you live on a fixed income, YES YOU SHOULD TITHE. God honors it. If you don't believe me, try him. Not for the wrong reasons though. Give to God to express the love in your heart and watch what happens in your life. Tithing has less to do with money than you know. Tithing is WORSHIP and like outward worship, God is pleased ONLY WITH YOUR BEST.
Thanks Russ for letting me rant with you. I love you bro.
Now that's what I'm talkin about! Praise God!
gotta say amen, even though i is one!!
