As we look at
today's society, I think it's time to take out the trash. In
Nehemiah 4:10 "Then Judah said, "The strength of the laborers is failing, and there is so much rubbish that we are not able to build the wall". As we look at building the Kingdom of God there's
alot of trash that
gets in the way. We let "trash" distract us and get into ours lives that causes us to get away from God. A TV show here, a computer site there. And here's the deal with the trash, the enemy will hide in it to attack us. In
Nehemiah 4:11 "And our enemies said, "The Jews won't know or see anything until we come among them and kill them and stop the work". The devil uses our "trash" to get
ahold of us and turn us away from the Living God. A good example of this is how much more tolerant we are nowadays of sin. Look at the language and sex on TV today. There was a time when it wouldn't have been tolerated. And we won't even get into the porn sites on the web.
Every time you go to one of those sites you've
committed adultery in your heart. Jesus said that in
Matthew 5:28 "But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." How can we as a nation think that this is okay for us to do? We've created a God that we think will tolerate our "little"
indiscretions. Guess what, we're wrong. There's nothing "little" about sin. There is only one true Living God and he tells us in no uncertain terms how it is with sin, no matter how "small" we think it is. How many times have we said, "Oh I'm not hurting anyone". Yes we are, we're hurting God. He
sees all of our thoughts and actions. How many times have you gone to a porn site thinking "no one knows". God knows and he sees what you're doing and it hurts him. No one on this earth is sinless. We're all sinners, but we're made right with God through faith. By accepting Jesus and repenting from our sins. It's time to take out the trash! Ever been to the city landfill? It stinks doesn't it? Let's get that "stink" out of our lives and start living for Jesus!
